Perske, R. (1996). The battle for Richard Lapointe’s life. Mental Retardation, 34 (5), 323-327.

This article highlights the story of a man from Harford, Connecticut who endures a congenital brain malformation as the result of Dandy-Walker syndrome. Richard Lapointe was convicted of murdering his wife’s grandmother, based upon police interrogation an d three questionable confessions. As a result of this case, The Friends of Richard Lapointe group began in support of his innocence and to proclaim his wrongful conviction. Although evidence of his innocence is not discussed in the article, there is discu ssion of Richard’s submissive personality and the highly questionable police tactics that were used.
