This article written by a professor of Criminology, Law and Society at the University of California-Irvine, discusses the high crime victimization rate of persons with disabilities. Specific types of crimes that occur at a higher rate among people with di sabilities versus the general population are identified, as are factors associated with increased vulnerability. Action that needs to be taken to raise awareness is emphasized. This article speaks strongly to the issue of victimization of people with disa bilities and the need for change.
