ND Hires - A program aimed at matching qualified individuals who have disabilities with available jobs, and to provide a one-stop call center with services and information to facilitate employment. Call their toll free number 1-877-634-4737 or visit them on the web by going to the ND Department of Human Service web site and typing in "ND Hires" in the search box on the left and click "Go".

ND Vocational Rehabilitation  - Assists individuals with disabilities to achieve competitive employment and increased independence through rehabilitation services. Services include, but are not limited to, diagnosis and evaluation, vocational counseling and planning, information and referral, adaptive equipment, physical and mental restoration services, maintenance, transportation, and vocational training, which includes supported employment, job placement and follow-up. Call toll free at 1-800-755-2745 (Voice)  and 701-328-8968 (TDD) or visit them on the web by going to the Human Service Center web site, scroll down  to the  map, click into your region and then look for "Vocational Rehabilitation".

SSA Employment Options - The Social Security Administration no longer just gives out benefits. They have a number of new programs in North Dakota designed to put people with disabilities to work. These include:

  • Protection and Advocacy Grant, P & A Project, 701-328-2950
  • Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach, Rehab Services, Inc., 701- 839-4240
  • Medicaid Infrastructure Grants, ND Center for Persons with Disabilities, 1-800-233-1737

Job Service of North Dakota - They provide customer-focused services to meet the current and emerging workforce development needs of the state. Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security  (PABSS) - Assists beneficiaries, employers and service providers with employment issues when they believe a consumers’ legal rights may have been violated. Provides information and referral, technical assistance and training. Call a PABSS Coordinator at 1-800-472-2670.

Rural Internet Based Employment (RIBE) - If you wish to employ a family member who has a disability by starting or operating a small business in data entry or inventory, contact the ND Center for Persons with Disabilities and ask about the RIBE project. Check them out by bringing up the web page and scrolling down to "Rural Internet-based employment" or you can reach them toll free at 1-800-233-1737 and ask for Maureen McCloud Rogers.

Small Business Association (SBA) - Another North Dakota Resource for potential/current small business owners, with offices in Fargo and Bismarck. The SBA offers information, technical assistance and training to business owners. Find them on the web or call (701)239-5131.
