Independent
Living
Many adults with
disabilities live on their
own and rely on family and friends for support. Others need special
supports
to live as adults. Most adults need intermittent support centered
around
employment, education, housing or transportation, and some need
lifelong
and intensive support.
Services may be
obtained through the ND
Department of Human Services through Developmental Disabilities or
Vocational
Rehabilitation systems, which are usually funded through money budgeted
by the state legislature, or a combination of state and federal dollars
using Medicaid options under the Home and Community Base Waiver. To
learn
more about services, contact the Human
Service Center nearest you.
