Disabilities Advocacy Consortium - An independent group of
organizations
who advocate for public policy that will benefit North Dakotans with
disabilities

People
First of North Dakota - A self advocacy
organization
made up of people with disabilities who believe that people should see
the person first, disability second. Call them at 1-888-695-9225.
ND Partners In
Policymaking - A comprehensive training program designed to
teach persons with disabilities, or family members, advocacy
skills.
It uses a national model and is provided through the Dakota Center for
Independent Living. Call toll free at 1-800-489-5013. A web site
is not yet available.
Assistive
Technology
Interagency
Project for Assistive Technology (IPAT) - Known in
North
Dakota as IPAT, this federally funded project assists persons with
disabilities
and their families to assess and access assistive technology solutions.
They can be reached at 1-800-265-IPAT (4728). IPAT maintains regional
offices
and their web site has a full listing of the office staff.
Case
Management
Developmental
Disabilities Case Management
Services - The Department of Human Services provides case management
services
to eligible ND citizens (children and adults) with developmental
disabilities
(DD). Once a person is deemed eligible, they may be provided with a
case
manager who will help them locate and access available services to meet
individual needs. These services include various types of family
support.

Mental
Health
ND
Mental Health Association - A private non-profit
organization
of volunteers focused on the improvement of services for people with
mental
illness, as well as to promote mental health for everyone. The
association
strives to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, and to
promote
responsible research for the prevention, treatment and cure of mental
illnesses.
