Center Based Care

Some families decide to place their child in a center based day care, sometimes referred to as a child care center. Benefits from this arrangement include:

  • The family has income needed to pay for health care benefits/a desired lifestyle.
  • The child is exposed to group activities where he or she can meet same aged peers.
  • The family meets other families and learns about a variety of parenting styles.
  • The family may continue with the same provider as their child grows.
  • The child may be exposed to a greater variety of activities and events.
Families who choose this type of arrangement need the following supports:
  • Careful planning to assure the family has quality time to spend together.
  • Back-up arrangements when the primary caregiver is ill or on vacation.
  • A site that uses optimal health care practices to prevent colds or infections.
  • A  fully licensed care provider to assure optimal stimulation and safety.
  • A child who can handle the noise and physical contact of more children.
