Accommodations for Diverse Learners

These courses were designed with the following accommodations to meet the learning needs of a diverse workforce.

·        Reading level of content pages, assignments, and online exams were controlled to be no greater than junior high reading level.

·        Content pages include advance organizers that alert the learner to the expected learning outcome and essential information on each page.

·        Glossaries within the text define terms that are essential but may be unfamiliar to some participants.

·        Lesson pages include self-tests that allow frequent opportunities to check comprehension.

·        The course is self-paced, allowing students to progress at a speed appropriate to their learning style.

·        Assignments give participants opportunities to apply the information to specific work environments.

·        Participants may redo assignments and take exams more than once to ensure they reach at least 85% competency.

·        Practicum assignments, chat sessions, and bulletin board assignments in the instructor-facilitated course provide enrichment activities for learners with advanced academic background and leadership responsibilities.
